Together with representatives from the company, they discussed the current security policy situation and, above all, its impact on industry and value creation. Jonas Becker, Mayor of Burbach, also took part in the discussion. The minister’s visit once again highlights the strategic importance of the Siegerland region, which is characterized by highly specialized, internationally competitive industrial companies. With their innovative strength, technological excellence, and export power, these \u201chidden champions\u201d make a significant contribution to Germany’s economic stability and security policy capabilities. Kick-off for comprehensive site development in Burbach<\/strong><\/p>

Burbach, March 27, 2026 \u2013 Dynamit Nobel Defence today carried out the official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction project \u201cAnbau Ost – Rohrfertigung\u201d at its plant site in Burbach. With this investment of approximately \u20ac3.5 million, the company is sending a clear signal for the sustainable strengthening and further development of the site.<\/p>

As part of the project, an existing production and administrative building will be expanded by more than 1,000 square meters. In addition to additional production space, modern office and administrative areas will be created, providing future-oriented working conditions and further increasing the efficiency of operational processes. Completion is scheduled for summer 2027.<\/p>

\u201cWith the \u201eAnbau Ost\u201c we are making a targeted investment in the modernization and future viability of our Burbach site,\u201d explains Michael Humbek, CEO of Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH. \u201cThis will not only create additional capacity, but also establish the structural prerequisites needed to meet the growing demands of our markets over the long term.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Today\u2019s groundbreaking marks far more than the start of a single project: it represents the beginning of a series of further construction and infrastructure measures aimed at the comprehensive upgrading of the entire plant site. The goal is to gradually expand the site infrastructure and sustainably increase the flexibility and performance of production. In addition to the management of Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH, the official ceremony was also attended by representatives of the construction management (BRENDEBACH Ingenieure GmbH), the executing construction company (Otto Quast Fertigbau GmbH, Siegen), as well as representatives of regional politics. On February 5, Dynamit Nobel Defence signed a memorandum of understanding with the Latvian state defense company Valsts aizsardz\u012bbas korpor\u0101cija | State Defence Corporation (VAK). The aim is to jointly establish a production facility for anti-tank mines in Latvia.<\/p>

The signing by Ingr\u012bda \u0136irse, State Defence Corporation LLC, Board member, and Michael Humbek, CEO DND, took place in the presence of Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spr\u016bds and marks the start of a strategically oriented industrial project to sustainably strengthen national and European defense capabilities.<\/p>

As part of the partnership, Dynamit Nobel Defence will contribute its many years of technological expertise in the areas of counter-mobility and anti-tank systems. The project provides for a structured transfer of technology and know-how and specifically involves Latvian industry in the development of production capacities.
The planned production will primarily meet the needs of the Latvian National Armed Forces and at the same time contribute to the resilience of security-critical European supply chains.<\/p>

In addition, production capacity is also geared towards export in the future.
The cooperation with Latvia stands for trust, industrial reliability, and a long-term security and industrial policy partnership within Europe.<\/p>

Dynamit Nobel Defence is thus making a concrete contribution to strengthening the European defense industry and its strategic autonomy.<\/p>

On Wednesday, October 22, Michael Humbek, Managing Director of Dynamit Nobel Defence, the Latvian Ministry of Defense, and the National Center for Defense Logistics signed the contract for the delivery of the Skorpion 2 mine-laying system.<\/p>

\u201cThe purchase of the mine-laying system is a strategic step toward strengthening our country’s defense capabilities. It is an essential part of a broader plan to strengthen the security and defense of Latvia’s eastern border. These investments ensure that Latvia is prepared to defend its territory and population against any type of threat,\u201d emphasizes Defense Minister Andris Spr\u016bds.<\/p>

The agreement covers the delivery of the Skoprion 2 mine-laying system, its ammunition, AT2+ anti-tank mines, and other system-related equipment. In addition, training for personnel to work with the systems is included.<\/p>

The contract is intended to underscore Latvia’s commitment to actively involving local industry, thereby making an important contribution to strengthening security of supply and promoting regional value creation. At the same time, the conclusion of the contract opens up the possibility for other countries to join the project and conclude their own supply contracts with our company.<\/p>

Construction of our new production facility in Hungary began in January 2025 in collaboration with a strong investor. This was preceded by a comprehensive site analysis to examine infrastructure, transport links and funding opportunities. The aim of this project is to build a state-of-the-art production facility that will be fully operational in summer 2026. The new facility will manufacture launch tubes for our shoulder-fired weapons, a product that impresses with its quality, innovation and efficiency.<\/p>

From the outset, great importance was attached to careful planning. The layout of the production facility takes into account optimal material flows, short distances and flexible expansion options. At the same time, a modern working environment is being created that offers the 50 employees not only safety, but also comfort and motivation. In addition to spacious production areas, social rooms and modern office space are also planned.<\/p>

Special attention is being paid to sustainability and energy efficiency. Photovoltaic systems, heat recovery systems and intelligent building control are planned to reduce operating costs and contribute to environmental protection.<\/p>

The schedule envisages that, once construction work has been completed, the installation and commissioning of the production facilities will proceed seamlessly, ensuring a smooth start to production. After the budget committee of the German parliament had approved the corresponding bill, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) concluded a framework agreement with Dynamit Nobel Defence for the manufacture and supply of launchers and cartridges for our RGW90 family of weapons as well as cartridges for the Panzerfaust 3 family.<\/p>

The framework agreement concluded on 12 February 2025 will enable Bundeswehr to procure large quantities of various munition types of DND shoulder-fired weapons in the coming years in order to ensure the Bundeswehr’s long-term operational readiness with these systems, which are key for dismounted combat.<\/p>

From Dynamit Nobel Defence\u2018s perspective, the long-term framework agreement with the included firm order creates security on both sides and enables industry to maintain the required materiel and production capacities.<\/p>

Together with the BAAINBw, we are pleased to have embarked on a reliable and at the same time flexible procurement path for our weapon families.
The developments on the battlefields in Eastern Europe demonstrate in a depressing way the necessity of fully equipping armed forces with powerful shoulder weapons. Dynamit Nobel Defence gladly accepts the responsibility of continuing to be a reliable supplier of these systems to the German Armed Forces and our allies in the years to come<\/p>

Shortly before the holiday break, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) signed a framework agreement with Dynamit Nobel Defence that will enable the flexible ordering of explosive reactive armor (ERA) modules for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle in the coming years. The signing of the framework agreement is accompanied by an initial order for ERA modules for basic operational stockpiling with a volume in the mid double-digit million Euro range.<\/p>

With the framework agreement concluded on 19 December 2024, the Bundeswehr will be able to procure reactive protection modules quickly and agilely in the coming years in order to ensure the operational readiness of the Puma fleet in the event of a crisis as well as in the event of operational commitments.<\/p>

From DND’s point of view, this order underlines the Bundeswehr’s commitment to the future-proof ERA technology as part of a modern and holistic concept of a combination of passive, reactive and active protection for land platforms. The long-term framework agreement creates security on both sides and enables the industry to expand the necessary production capacities.<\/p>

Last week, the annual symposium of the F\u00f6rderkreis Deutsches Heer e.V. (FKH), the Association of the German Army, took place under the title „Effectiveness as the key to win for land forces“. This year, DND was co-host of this high-profile event, which was held at our site and attracted more than 130 participants from the Bundeswehr, politics, industry and various associations to the Siegerland region.<\/p>

In addition to presentations and discussion panels, the focus was on discussions and exchanges between all participants in a pleasant atmosphere. The question hovering over everything was how to provide our armed forces, as well as those of our allies, with the right equipment and supplies to meet their needs for their core mission, namely national and alliance defense.<\/p>

We are pleased to announce that DND has been awarded a contract by the Croatian Ministry of Defense to manufacture and deliver RGW90 HH (HEAT\/HESH) including associated training systems. This equipment package represents a comprehensive initial operational capability for anti-tank engagement with this shoulder-launched asset. Croatia thus joins the rapidly growing user group of the RGW90 family.<\/p>

On September 8, 2023, Michael Humbek, CEO of Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH, inaugurated the new „casting center“ on the DND premises in front of invited guests from local politics, industry, the trade press and the German armed forces.\u00a0<\/p>

After a planning, project and construction phase lasting several years, the company was thus able to commission a new, state-of-the-art production complex, which will enable the shoulder-fired weapons division to produce charges for special warheads in significantly larger quantities than before. Newer variants of the RGW family, in particular the RGW90 ASM or the RGW90 LRMP, require their explosives to be processed in casting processes instead of the pressing processes that have been used for other variants for many decades.<\/p>

What is remarkable about this infrastructure project is that its foundation stone was laid in the middle of the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, and DND thus demonstrated a willingness to invest in the Burbach site during a phase in which the entire economy was rather passive. Only a few years later, entrepreneurial courage and commitment to our hometown are now paying off, especially at a time when demand for shoulder launched munitions is high. Dynamit Nobel Defence has recently received an order from the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the production and delivery of 3.500 Panzerfaust 3-IT DM72A1.<\/p>

DND is very honored to have received this order. We are pleased that the German Armed Forces continue to rely on the combat proven Panzerfaust 3 as part of their individual-soldier anti-tank defence concept. We are happy to support the Bundeswehr in maintaining and enhancing its operational readiness, which is so vital, especially in these times.<\/p>

The iconic Panzerfaust 3 is a shoulder-launched, low-recoil anti-tank and multi-purpose weapon with maximum penetrating power against heavy battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. It is also suitable for engaging lightly armored targets and fortified positions. On the market for more than 30 years, it has undergone continuous development over time. The latest version, the Panzerfaust 3-IT (Improved Tandem), features a tandem warhead that is particularly suitable for engaging combat vehicles protected with reactive protection.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

DND received an order for several delivery batches of RGW90 HEAT\/HESH shortly before the turn of the year.
The contract, worth approximately EURO 19 million, also includes training ammunition for RGW90 subcaliber trainer systems. The order was placed as a call-off of a recent NATO procurement authorities framework contract between DND and NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), and is intended to meet upcoming requirements of the Belgian Armed Forces on shoulder-launched multipurpose munitions.<\/p>

Dynamit Nobel Defence is honored to have received this order, and proud to remain a partner of the Belgian Armed Forces in the field of shoulder-fired munitions. The ordered RGW90 HEAT\/HESH systems as well as the quantities of training ammunition for sub-caliber systems will contribute to keeping the infantry operational capability of our customer high for many years to come. The procurement route taken via NSPA is of course also open to other allied armed forces, which would thus like to exploit synergy effects of this form of procurement cooperation.<\/p>

After almost two years of construction, our new „Casting Center“ was completed at the turn of the year. It comprises buildings and facilities for casting, mixing, tempering and drying explosives and blasting agents for our shoulder-fired weapon systems. The initial plans for this infrastructure measure were drawn up back in 2014\/2015. After a complex concept and detailing phase as well as extensive official approval procedures, the groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2020. Now that the contractor services have been completed, fine-tuning work on the heating, water, ventilation and communications supply of the new complex will take place in the coming months. From July 2022, it will be fully operational and become part of the production lines of our system families.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

We are thus significantly expanding our capacities and competencies in the area of warhead production for both our existing RGW series products and those still under development. A substantial order backlog and good economic prospects have made this project possible. At the same time, DND is committing to the future of our Burbach site with this ambitious infrastructure project with an investment volume of approximately three million Euros.<\/p>

Dynamit Nobel Defence and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) announced this week a teaming agreement in which both companies will collaborate to present the Recoilless Grenade Weapon (RGW)<\/span><\/a> series to the U.S. DoD market. We are centering our partnership around the 60mm (RGW60) and the 90mm (RGW90) variants. This new teaming will make General Dynamics-OTS our premier partner when it comes to potentially establishing a U.S. supply chain of DND\u2019s shoulder-launched weapons portfolio.<\/p>
